In January 2007, Hilton's private life again created headlines with the launch of ParisExposed.com, a website that featured images of personal and medical documents, video tapes, and other private material, allegedly obtained when the contents of a storage locker rented by Hilton were auctioned off due to lack of payment. CNN's Anderson Cooper 360 discussed footage obtained from the website which features Hilton using several ethnic slurs. On February 3, 2007 Paris Hilton obtained a temporary injunction against ParisExposed.com, closing down the website for a short period of time before the site went back online.

In a June 11, 2007 phone interview from jail, Paris Hilton told Barbara Walters that while serving time in jail, God has given her a new chance, and that she will no longer "act dumb."

The leak of a three year old home made sex video of Hilton with her then boyfriend Rick Salomon a week prior to the premiere of her Fox reality series The Simple Life attracted worldwide attention in late 2003.

The 2004 1 Night in Paris is a sex video tape showing Paris Hilton and her then-boyfriend Rick Salomon engaging in sexual relations. The video was released shortly before Paris Hilton's TV series "The Simple Life debuted", focusing a "media" sensation. Rick Salomon originally sued Paris Hilton for defamation when Paris Hilton claimed publicly that she was "out of it" and didn't know exactly what she was doing during the taping of the video tape. Over the sudden release of the video tape Paris Hilton also sued Rick Salomon, but they settled out of court in July 2005. According to reports, Paris Hilton was awarded reward of up to $400,000 and planned to donate a certain percentage to a charity. However, in a interview 2006 with GQ magazine, Hilton stated: "I never received a dime from (the video tape). It's just dirty money and (Salomon) should give it all to some charity for the sexually abused or something."

The original video tape and copies of the DVD are still circulating on the Internet and can be legally seen on several sites. The video received the AVN Awards in 2005 for "Best Selling Title of the Year", "Best Renting Title of the Year", and "Best Overall Marketing Campaign Individual Project".

The Released DVD titled 1 Night in Paris is distributed by Red Light District, a production company that produces and distributes pornographic videos.

The film was made using the night vision feature of the camera which also features in a number of the parodies of the film for instance, the video for Pink's "Stupid Girls" and in the South Park episode Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset.
